Lexi's Story...

On Friday May 2nd I had what I would soon know was my last prenatal appointment for my pregnancy with Lexi. The appointment went perfect as normal. We heard a strong healthy heart beat and were told by our midwife that the baby was healthy. Later that night Alex and I laid in bed daydreaming about daughter. She was having one of her common episodes of the hiccups and I fell asleep with Alex's hand on my belly as we experienced our daughter's movement together. Little did we know that this would be the last time we would ever feel her movement at all. The next day I woke up just like any other Saturday and got ready to go to work. As I sat at work I fealt that something was off because I had not feel Lexi's precious movements all day. When I started to get concerned my coworkers assured me that as babies get bigger they move less and that it was nothing to worry about. After getting home from work and talking to Alex we decided that it was time to go to the hospital. When we arrived they put me in a room and a nurse came in to hook me up for a nonstress test. The nurse(Carolina) Searched for our daughter's heart beat for what seemed like forever. After a long wait she told us that she was going to call the radioligist for an ultra sound because she was having trouble locating a heart beat. Again after a wait that seemed like forever the radioligist along with our midwife came in to preform the ultrasound that would tell us our daughter's heart was no longer beating. Our family was there by that point and the room was hit with complete devastation. I was in shock and could not believe what was happening. The staff left the room so that we could have our time to cry and process what we had just heard. We went home to process the news over night. We returned to the hospital the next night so that they could soften my cervix. The next morning it was time for me to be induced. After 10 1/2 hours of labor and about ten minutes of pushing Alexis Ann McDaniel was born silent at 7:46p.m. She was born weighing exactly 6 pounds and was 19.25 inches long. She was the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. Although she is not here with us today she is the greatest blessing I have ever recieved and I would not change having her for the world. She will live forever in our hearts deeply and truly loved.
